For its annual Sleep Awards, Men’s Health editors and testers evaluated mattresses and other sleep products based on factors including comfort, support, temperature regulation, ease of use, and overall performance.
Among the mattresses tested, the Bear Elite Ultra Hybrid earned the publication’s top recognition specifically for hot sleepers—a distinction that speaks directly to what we designed this mattress to do.
What Men’s Health Says About the Elite Ultra Hybrid
Men’s Health put the Elite Ultra Hybrid in the hands—or, more accurately, under the sheets—of its self-described “resident hot sleepers.” The testers came away impressed with more than its temperature regulation.
According to the publication, the mattress earned praise for its “optimal temperature control” as well as a construction that helps limit the feel of a partner’s movement and provides targeted back support through zoned coils.

Cooling Comfort from Cover to Core
The Elite Ultra Hybrid is our most advanced cooling mattress, with several technologies working together to help manage heat throughout the night.
It starts with a quilted Celliant® infrared cover, followed by cushioning quilt foam with our CoolForce™ Layer included. CoolForce™ uses phase change material (PCM) to draw heat away from the body and create a cooler sleep surface. Testing comparing the mattress with CoolForce™ to the same mattress without it, the technology helped sleepers stay up to 4 degrees cooler for 12 hours.
Underneath, copper-infused memory foam provides contouring pressure relief while helping draw heat away from the body. A layer of individually wrapped microcoils adds responsiveness, while the mattress's hybrid construction and coil systems provide space for airflow that can help reduce heat buildup.
The mattress is finished with an 8-inch, five-zone Ascension Coil system, which provides targeted support—including enhanced lumbar support—and reinforced edges. That zoned support system was also one of the features highlighted by Men’s Health in its award write-up.
